Question: I may be losing my only ovary due to an ovarian cyst. Although I am 55, I still get periods, although the last 12 months sporadic. I gave a strong libido... Will I lose that?

Brief Answer:
It is best to get the cyst removed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
A cyst of 19 cm size is a large enough cyst and needs to be removed. Even if you are having periods at the age of 55, you are likely to have menopause in next 1-2 years. A cyst of this size needs to be removed due to its size and to rule out the chances of malignancy.
To continue enjoying the sex life you can opt for hormonal replacement therapy after consulting your gynecologist. It can preserve your libido like you have now.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.

I am having a vertical incision from my belly button down to remove my cyst. Should I elect a abdominoplasty at the same time does it require another incision or can they remove fat and tighten from the same incision?

Answered by Dr. Dr. Rakhi Tayal (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
It will need a separate incision.

Detailed Answer:
Abdominoplasty is done by a plastic surgeon. It is difficult to manage both the procedures in a single sitting. This will need a separate incision.
