Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
First, you need to understand the problem.
I firmly believe that if you understand the problem the treatment and the relief is half done.
The problem is that your nerves are getting compressed at the sites you mentioned.
Unfortunately, the disc compression is not enough to warrant surgery.
The nerve compression is causing the symptoms that you have including pain, tingling numbness and even some weakness that you may have not noted.

The medicines available are pregabalin, gabapentin and the likes that you are already on. The other option is physiotherapy. And obviously you are on that too. From the query, its not clear. So I do hope that you are taking your medicines.

I have the following suggestions for you.
1st - check your vitamin D and calcium levels. I suspect they are low.
2nd- Start Vitamin D correction eg Calcerol D XXXXXXX 60000 units once a week for 6 weeks with milk may help.
3rd- Start calcium supplements like Shelcal once a day.
4th- Start Folvite and Vit B12 replacement as well. You can fond lots of brands for this like Homocheck.
5th- Avoid bending Forwards.
6th- Avoid lifting heavy weights.
7th- Change your mattress- use a hard mattress.
8th- use a lumbar belt/corset. It will help you further with pain.
9th- Do NOT take too many pain killers.
10th- and this I have already said- take the medicines prescribe if you are not on them.

Please feel free to contact us for more information as required.
Best of luck, Dr Mittal

Hi
Thanks for your response.
Steroids are an option.
However they can be suggested only if there is some edema at the site where the nerves come out of the spine.
Else they are not going to help much.
For that, you need to send me the entire MRI.

Have you consulted a neurologist so far?
I would suggest that if you have not done that so far.
This is because they will be able to examine you, something I cannot do online.

You may also ask your physiotherapist for TENS therapy. This usually affords a much quicker relief.

Please do feel free to contact me for any further information as needed.
Best of luck.
