Brief Answer:
Gastritis and Dyspepsia very unlikely to be ulcers.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks you for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.

I am Dr Kumar a Gastroenterologist and would be addressing your query.

As per your query. See peptic ulcers doesn't develop overnight. Secondly you are having symptoms only from a short duration of time.Thirdly as per the brief history given by you;you are having mild nausea and indigestion which can be because of the drugs you are on or it can be due to gastritis caused by fish liver oil.
Peptic ulcers are usually associated with a number of symptoms like stomach pain,Feeling of fullness, bloating or belching,Fatty food intolerance,Heartburn and Nausea.

So initially lets go for common problems like dyspepsia. Most likely you are having dyspepsia.Dyspepsia, also known as indigestion or upset stomach, is a term that describes discomfort or pain in the upper abdomen. It is not a disease. Dyspepsia is a group of symptoms which often include indigestion, nausea and burping etc. This dyspepsia is a result of irritation of mucosa caused by fish oil supplements you are on.

Frankly speaking sour stomach is nothing but deranged health of upper gastrointestinal track which causes nausea, burning in stomach, belching, sour burps, indigestion etc.

Suggestions.
Stop taking Dexilant and switch to Rabeprazole 20mg twice daily for few days.Along with it take a antacid like Mucaine gel( Aluminium Hydroxide, Magnesium, and Oxetacaine ) twice daily with food.
Drink two glasses of cold milk daily its alkaline in nature and neutralizes acid.
Avoid eating fatty and spicy food.
No alcohol or cofee for few days.

For indigestion start taking over the counter probiotic daily. They contain good bacterias which are helpful in improving over all digestion of a person.
Take 2 tsf of isapghul husk once daily before going to bed.It improves the overall digestion.
Take apple cider vinegar to provide symptomatic relief in acidity.

As per your query regarding fish oil pills yes they increase the amount of omega 3 fatty acids in body hence in some patients it causes severe gastric upset and dyspepsia.

" Fish oil supplements, can irritate the stomach lining because they must be digested just as the oils found in a whole serving of fish would. If you have not taken fish oil previously and begin taking high doses of fish oil typically about 3 g of fish oil your stomach may become irritated because it is not accustomed to digesting this amount of fatty acids. To digest fats in your body, your stomach and intestines must obtain bile from the liver or gallbladder leading to inflammation of gastric mucosa"

But don't worry its fully reversible.
Just follow the instruction given by me along with medications for dyspepsia and gastritis for 2 weeks and report me how you feel after that.

In case you want to be sure that they are not ulcers only way out is upper g.i endoscopy.

Hope i answered your query well.
Follow ups are welcome.

Brief Answer:
Follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again dear,
I am sorry but only way to provide this supplement to body is through oral route.Unfortunately its causing severe gastritis in your case.So only option left is to avoid taking supplements and switch to natural ways.
Fish that are especially rich in the beneficial oils known as omega-3 fatty acids include mackerel, herring, tuna, salmon, cod liver, whale blubber, and seal blubber. Two of the most important omega-3 fatty acids contained in fish oil are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). So as you can't take supplement you can have these fishes twice in a week.It will provide you with the amout of fatty acids necessary to protect your heart and prevent clogging of arteries.
Please mention why are you taking these supplements?
i.e for Heart or clogged vessels or Attention deficit syndrome.

I could give you further opinion and doses of omega 3 fatty acids you have to take for preventing a particular problem.

Regards.

I stopped taking ther fish oil supplements months ago. My stomach is bothering me. Having stopped the fish oil, sahouldn't my stomach eventually heal itself? Maybe with a temporal bland diet?

IS THEIR SURGERY yet that cure cure GERD, of a stomach that produces too much acid? Stem cells can help, in the future?

Brief Answer:
Follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Yes definitely the body will try to heal itself naturally but initially you have to make things favourable for body to promote healing.
In lay mans language-
Your stomach is wounded. In a normal person the body can multiply its cells to maintian the integrity of epithilium but your mucosa is already wounded due to increased acid and other problem explained in initial replies.
So initially you have to help body to recover providing external help(acid neutralisers plus wound healers). However in a week or two as the things start to turn better, taper off the medicines and let your body heal itself.
It would be a better policy.
However if you don't want to take medicines try a bland diet.
Drink two cups cold milk every day(acid neutraliser)
Take lots of colored vegetables and fruits(rich in antioxidants).
Avoid any citrus fruit.
Take food rich in calcium and vitamin c( wound healer).
If possible try raw vegans(detox diet) for few days.
By eating raw foods you create a live body. Live foods contain essential nutrients the body needs to create and maintain energy. Dead foods speed age, decrease ability, and decrease energy. The best way is to increase the amount of raw and uncooked food in your diet gradually.Folow nature and nature will help you recover.Though it sounds easy but sticking to it is needs desperate efforts. However If still not relieved then take medications.

As per the protocol GERD surgery should be considered only after other treatment has not worked and tests suggest there's a good chance surgery will succeed.
Laproscopic fundoplication is usually used in patients refractory to maximal treatment.
The goal of a fundoplication is to reinforce the Lower esophageal sphincter to recreate the barrier that stops reflux from occurring.
During fundoplication surgery, the upper curve of the stomach (the fundus) is wrapped around the esophagus and sewn into place so that the lower portion of the esophagus passes through a small tunnel of stomach muscle. As fundus is rich in acid secreting parietal cells,Sewing it causes reduction in acid formation.

STEM cell therapy is in its very initial phase at present but definitely in near future approx 10 years down the XXXXXXX it would definitely help patients to recover from GERD.

Doctors here, even after 3 endoscopies, aren't sure whether its reflux or a stomach that overproduces acid: telling me stupidly ONLY they saaw some irritation in my stomach.

In July and August, 1998 I began having chronic indigestion. Zantac didn'ty do SHIT to alleviate it so I tool many antacids. Sept the burpless belches and I actually threw UP. Fortunately that same day I was put on prilosec, later prevacid, now Dexilent.

Brief Answer:
Take complete treatment for gastritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Basically as your endoscopies were normal you are a straight forward case of simple gastritis and dyspepsia. If there had been any ulcers in upper intestinal tract it would have been apparent in endoscopy.
Over production of acid or gastric reflux cannot be seen in endoscopy.
Endoscopy is basically done to appreciate peptic ulcers and H.pylori infection(A common cause of gastritis). They cause inflammation of the gastric mucosa which can be seen through camera in endoscope.
Three times normal endoscopy with inflammation of mucosa is clearly indicative of gastritis.

Follow whatever i adviced (life style and food)for 2 weeks and you will feel much better in few days.
In medicine take Rabeprazole 20 mg once daily.
Domperidone 30 mg once daily.
You are a open and shut case of gastritis.
Don't overthink or panic unnecessarily.
Follow whatever i suggested and you will feel much better.
I don't feel that any other investigation is required right now.
