Suggest Treatment For Myelopathy And Spastic Paraparesus

Question: My son 43 years old has been diagnosed with "myelopathy" and Spastic Paraparesus. I understand that the myelin sheath has been affected and that there is no real treatment for the gradual degeneration in his walking and other movements, eventually. He is followed at the Montreal Neurological Institute by a neurologist and a physiotherapist. He takes a medication 3 times a day to reduce the stiffness but his symptoms are increasing.
Are you aware of any treatments? Are myelopathy and spastic Paraparesus the same?

Thanks you

Brief Answer:
There are many treatments.

Detailed Answer:
Myelopathy is just a descriptive term that literally means damage of the spine and does not identify the reason for the damage. In this case it sounds like the you don't know the cause and the treatments depend on the cause so it is necessary to know the diagnosis and how it was diagnosed. there are many different kinds of spinal cord damage.
I would like to know few more details. Start with the age of your son, how long this has been going on? how it was diagnosed? and what he is having trouble doing? it sounds like he's taking baclofen currently. There are many types of treatments for the stiffness but it depends on the nature of the disease as to why he continues to worsen. Try to find out some more and maybe I can help a little more.
