Suggest Treatment For Lupus

Question: my husband has lupus and his red blood cells are being destroyed when they are released from the bone mare what can be done to prevent these blood cells from being destroyed. He take an Aranesp injection once a month. I was wondering the we need to go the Mayo Clinic. all though I feel we have a good doctor. He did a bone mare test about 10 months ago. I want to suggest he do another one next month

Treatment is to suppress the immunity to avoid destruction of RBC.

Corticosteroid is the first line of treatment of hemolytic anemia in lupus.

He should take corticosteroid. Other options are IV immunoglobulin.

Please consult your doctor and take steroids accordingly.

No need of repeat bone marrow examination.
