Suggest Treatment For Lump In The Right Buttock
Question: Hi, I have a lump/knot in my right buttock -- midway under the skin, nothing visible on the surface. My massage/physical therapist (whom I see once a week) noticed it last week. It hurts when he presses on it. I recently started intensive strength training (8 weeks ago) and do full-body training twice a week to complement my tennis playing (I play 5 days a week). My massage therapist noticed the knot/lump the day after I had just added full, deep squats (bar with 40 pounds) to my training. I am just wondering if it's related to muscles being stressed/built up? My massage therapist was thinking a fatty cyst possibly, but what would that feel like? Thanks in advance! (I'm a 42 year old, 5'5", female, 120 pounds.)
Brief Answer:
It could be Lipoma.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, it looks like Lipoma, swelling arising from accumulation of fat.It has no relation to exercise.
If the swelling is large, the diagnosis will be confirmed by FNAC (FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION CYTOLOGY ).If it is small,I prefer to remove the swelling surgically and send it for histopathological examination (Biopsy).
Please consult a General surgeon, get examined clinically and proceed accordingly.
Nothing to worry.
Wish you good health.
Regards
