Question: My doctor said I have jock itch and prescribed me some cream but I still have this rash on my scrotum and penus and between my thigh and scrotum. It gets intensely itchy ,usually at night. If I itch it gets sore , skin flakes off and gets bumps and cracks. What do you think this is and how do I get rid of it?

Brief Answer:
Intertrigo most probably

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM..

According to history you gave, I think that most probably you may be having candidal intertrigo. The skin on inner thighs, scrotum and fold area might become reddish, erased, oozing and infected. You may be having itching and burning. You may feel discomfort... All this suggest that you have inflammatory condition in groin area. This is most commonly due to Candida albicans .. Commonly found fungus.

I would suggest...

- keep the area dry
- wear cotton clothes
- avoid soap bath
- take Sitz bath in dettol mixed water
- antibiotic
- anti fungal like itroconazole 100 mg cap twice a day for two weeks
- antihistaminics like levocetirizine 5 mg daily
- apply anti fungal powder like clotrimazole after bath and zapzole cream at night
- improve hygiene
- take nutritious food
- improve immunity

You may take treatment after consulting the dermatologist.

I hope this would help you.

Thanks.
