Suggest Treatment For Hives And Abdominal Pain After DTaP Vaccine

Question: Hello, my 3 year old daughter reacted to 3rd Dtap vaccine and got hives and just laid on the floor in pain, I took her to ER and they did not really pin point Dtap, although they said it could've been a reaction from it. This was few weeks ago and she is 3 years old 11 months. When she received first two shots of Dtaps at 2 months old, she immediately developed eczema, and had excessive crying. I have her a 2nd shot of Dtap at 6 months, and again night terrors, could not sleep was crying excessively and eczema got painfully bad on her face, where she even bled from scratching. She was given steroids to calm the skin. I am concerned about her allergic reaction to drugs and heavy metals. Is there a test she could take for this? Thank you in advance.

Tests for allergy are available.
There are two types of tests.
1. Direct tests.
2. Indirect tests.
Direct tests test for allergens directly. Allergens can be food items, pollens, chemicals, dust, mites, metals, drugs etc. These tests are done on blood.
Indirect tests include serum IgE level, absolute eosinophil count (AEC) etc.
So get done these tests for your daughter.

Thank you Dr. Bhavsar, as far as direct tests go, who would be able to provide these? I went to two Allergists and they both said they can test my daughter with skin test while giving her vaccine in small quantities to see how she reacts. Her pediatrician agreed to this approach for every new vaccine she receives, and I think that is a good precaution method. However, if it is possible to determine allergy to drugs and metals directly it would be even better. I just don't know where to go for this. I realize you are in XXXXXXX but maybe there are international companies/laboratories you are familiar with in California.

Yes, skin prick test is also a direct allergy testing. It is also a good option.
For blood allergy testing, I don't think you will able to get it done by yourself. You must need doctor's prescription for the same.
Sorry to say say but I don't know any laboratory in California.
You can search for SRL diagnostics if it is available in California. But you will need doctor's prescription for sure. I don't think they will test without doctor's prescription.

Probably, they will not be able to do it because this test requires separate machine which is licensed only to the pathologist.
I am not 100% sure about this in California but in XXXXXXX only pathologist can do.
