Brief Answer:
Relax & enjoy life

Detailed Answer:
Hi friend
Welcome to Health Care Magic

No need not be afraid at all...
Go ahead and check / if normal, happy; you are reassured / if high, treat it! – after all, it is a treatable condition!
It is a biological value and hence bound to change...
Relax / Yoga, bio-feedback, relaxation methods, psychological counselling are a few of the techniques, that can be learnt – to overcome the fear.
It is not uncommon / you are not the only one – many people have raised pressure on seeing the doctor – “white coat hypertension”
Relax / have diversion / enjoy life

Good luck
God bless you

I am on enalapril and amlodipin for moderately high BP.

I test at home and usually have 130/75. Sometimes a little higher.

Recently I made the mistake of testing when very anxious (I suffer from health anxiety), also I was standing up with no back support, and also I had the arm down along the side (not level with heart). Then I had 180/110 and got extremely scared.

Brief Answer:
relax / recheck

Detailed Answer:
Hi

If so, just sit or lie down / Relax
Check again after a few minutes
It could very well be normal

And Anxiety might account for it…
However, there are certain conditions like Pheochromocytoma (sudden outpouring of adrenal hormones), which could behave similarly. Discuss with your doctor – measurement of blood level of the hormone and/or its metabolic products in the urine, as also abdominal ultrasound, may be done – to evaluate for and exclude it.
