Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your query I will like to tell you that It could be some viral fever as it is causing fever , bodyaches joint pains and rashes also . Please get your routine blood tests like CBC , LFT , RFT , ESR , CRP etc .

You will need to see a physician at the earliest because the kind of rashes needs to be distinguished . Till then keep yourself hydrated and maintain a temperature chart so that your fever pattern can be seen.

Take care.

I'm worried it is that chikungunya mosquito virus. I haven't traveled out of the country (however, I will be in the Caribbean the last week of August) but was bit by a mosquito 5 days prior to all this occurring. I was bit on the front of my left leg but it was inbetween the knee and ankle. The rashes are on my ankle and top of my foot. Is it possible for the rash to be elsewhere than where I was bitten? And if it helps, I normally wear sneakers so I know I haven't been in contact with any weird plants or such.

Dear Madam,

Thank you for reverting back.

Well madam its possible for rash to be present at other sites rather then where you were bitten . Site is generally not realted to rash . If you doubt that its chickengunya then the testing for it needs to be done . You can get the ELISA testing done for this or whichever spot test is used in your country .

But all routine testing needs to be done to see whats going on.

Just went to the hospital today and the doctors hear believe it might be rheumatoid arthritis. Judging from my CB lab work, my lymphocytes were low, but my monocytes are high. I also have an excessively high CRP. It states average range is 0.0-0.5 mg/dl and mine measured at 2.1...that can't be good. Is rheumatoid arthritis an illness that I have forever or does it go away? I love snowboarding, hiking, kayaking and other fairly extreme sports. I'd really hate to give those up. I guess what I'm really asking is if it is manageable and I can just keep doing what I'm doing now.

Dear Madam,

Thanks for reverting back.

Well I specialise with rheumatoid arthritis only . Rheumatoid Arthritis is a disease that can be well controlled with medicines and people can lead an absolutely normal life . You dont have to sacrifice any of the activities you love if you get adequate treatment from the first day .

But sometimes you will have flares and then they will be controlled .But just CRP is not enough to make a diagnosis , RF , anti CCP antibody , ESR , x RAY BOTH HANDS AND FEET to look for erosions need to be done before labelling as Rherumatoid arthritis .

Revert back to me with these reports , I will guide you after seeing them. Any queries you can ask me .
