Question: My son is going to be 16, He seems to burp more than before. 3 /4 hours after dinner(from a eat out place), sometimes after playing. Should he be tested for acid reflux or chrohns? He has no other symptoms. My cousins have chrohns. Was temporarily given provacid - je sleeps late and has a hectic high school schedule. At times eats outside

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for answering your query in healthcaremagic.com.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

Probably he is having indigestion and reflux disorder due to irregular food habits. Chances of crohns are unlikely but cannot be ruled out though. I would suggest the following-
Primarily and most importantly modify your diet and build a healthy and regular food habit. Take small frequent meals and take lots of fluid and dietary fibers. Avoid fatty and junk food strictly. Sleep early, get up early. Maintain regularity which is most important.
Avoid heavy meal at night strictly.
Do exercises like brisk walking, swimming, cycling etc. It enhances metabolism.
You can contact a dietitian for a proper diet chart which you can follow.
Give him tab pantoprazole-levosulpiride once daily in empty stomach for 15 days.
Give antacids after food for 5-10 days.
Get a routine blood test and LFT done.

Contact your doctor for prescription of the above.
Get back to me with the reports.
Hope I have answered your question.
