Suggest Treatment For Fibromyalgia, Knee Problems And Hearing Loss

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Apr 2015
Question: I have been diagnosed with fibro and I have knee problems and hearing loss also. I have been on lyrica 75 mg 4x day for about year, along with cymbalta 2x day, Motrin and Opana for the pain. Suddenly I have been getting these feelings of being shocked all over my body. Yesterday had the worst one yet. I was getting ready for work and I'm not sure if the shock was so big or I was surprised but it actually made me light headed. Every once in a while it feels like with these shocks I get weird vision just for a second. It happens more and more frequently and is concerning. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
I recommend you to discuss immediately your treatment with a neurologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thank you for asking on HCM! Regarding your concerns, I would explain to you that your complains are compatible with symptoms of orthostatic hypotension. Did you measure your blood pressure recently? Are light-headedness and disturbed vision more prominent when standing up? I recommend you to keep measuring your blood pressure frequently and if abnormally low values are recorded to perform a Head Up Tilt Table testing.
I would advice you to be very careful with your current medication, because they have the potential to aggravate your complains. Lyrica coupled with Cymbalta and also Opana are responsible not rarely to cause blurred vision, light-headedness, and aggravate orthostatic hypotension. I recommend you to consult immediately the neurologist in order to discuss these drug side effects, to find a more appropriate treatment scheme for your pains, avoiding unnecessary and potentially harmful combinations.
Hope to have been helpful to you! Greetings from Dr. Iliri
