Brief Answer:
?Upper Respiratory Tract Infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the query.

The description you have provided is too short but I feel that she might be suffering with Upper Respiratory tract infection as 1yr old kid in your family too had similar symptoms.

I would like to know few more details which will help me in advising you better:
1. Since when is your mom suffering with these symptoms?
2. What was her last recorded temperature?
3. What is the colour and quantity of sputum produced?
4. Is the sputum present through out the day or does it vary with time?
5. Does she have difficulty in swallowing food?
6. Is the cough present through out the day or has variation with time?
7. Is she taking any medications for this? If yes, please mention them.
8. Is she been diagnosed with any medical conditions like High BP, Diabetes or any other? If yes, Please mention the treatment she is on.
7. How was your nephew treated?
8. Any other information you would like to share with me which is relevant to the above concerns.

Meanwhile ask her to follow these instructions which will help in reducing the symptoms:
1. Consumption of boiled water only. Avoid cold and refrigerated drinks and food items.
2. XXXXXXX warm salt water gargling, three to four times a day.
3. Tab sinarest three times a day after food, If she is not taking any medication for cold and fever.
4. Steam inhalation with or without any medications like vicks vaporub three to four times in a day.
5. Nasal saline drops 2 drops in each nostril three times a day for nasal block, if any.

Brief Answer:
Viral Fever

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the details.

I have gone through the details and feel that your mom might be suffering with viral fever. As her fever is now reduced, the cold and cough should reduce gradually.

Ask her to continue the instructions mentioned in my previous reply. She should be fine soon.

Hope this answers your query. If no further clarifications, you can close and rate this query.
