Question: I'm sorry, clearly I did not mean lobotomized. I meant phlebotomized. He is a varsity hockey player . And wants to get back to hockey .

Would this be your next step… I will call the hematologist on Monday. If the blood clot is subsiding i, do you still think he needs to be on blood thinners. What about the daily baby aspirin?

I know it is very difficult to tell a young healthy child that he cannot play a sport he really enjoys but I do agree that limiting contact sport participation until this is further characterize is a reasonable approach.

it is reasonable to discuss the case with a hematologist. The hematologist can help generate recommendations regarding how long blood thinners need to be used.

generally the aspirin is indicated if the clot occurred in an artery.
