Brief Answer:
You may need to go for Endoscopy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to the HCM,
Dear I would like to know ,for how long you have been suffering from acid reflux? and Do you have any swelling in neck?
since acid reflux for prolonged time can cause esophagitis (inflamation and pain in esophagus) and dysphagia.
I would also like to know about your diet history. What do you eat in dinner and breakfast?Do you sleep right after having dinner?

We can not predict with out endoscopy or Thyroid scan ,that this pain in throat is either because of esophagitis or any thyroid problem. But from your history it seems, that probably acidity and acid reflux could be the main factors ,which might be causing these symptoms. To rule out any thyroid problem you may need thyroid profile and scan for excluding any thyroid disease.

With answering some of my questions above ,if recently you have gone through any investigation, pls let me know ,to clarify more about your problem.
Regards,
Dr.Maheshwari

I have had the dysphagia since the end of may and I starting having reflux soon after. My dysphagia started out with me eating a candy orange slice and after i ate the candy it felt like a piece of the orange slice was stuck in my throat and felt like that for a few days and shortly after that small pieces of food would get stuck and I would have to drink water for it to go down. I do not cough up or vomit any food. Shortly after my dysphagia started I developed acid reflux. On XXXXXXX 24th is when my throat started hurting and just a few days ago my thyroid on the right side starting hurting at the top of the thyroid. I am on 65 mgs of naturethroid for my thyroid and my lab test in April for my thyroid came back at 0.64. For dinner I mainly eat salad since I work evenings till 10:00 at night and I don't typically eat untill 11;30 and goe to bed a few hours later. For breadfast either a toaster strudel or yogurt.

I have no swelling in my neck

My son had h-pylori the end of april. I was wrong about the time in May it was the beginning of May that my symptoms started.

Brief Answer:
It could be esophagitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again;
Thank you for sharing ,dear from your history it seems that you might be having esophagitis.
Since cause of dysphagia with sensation of food getting stuck in the throat or chest
could be inflammation of esophagus due to recurrent irritation with acid reflux. Also some time weak contraction of the muscular portions of the esophagus, can cause these symptoms.
First of all I would suggest you some investigations to rule out esophagus problem.
1.Water swallow test
2.Barium swallow test..The patient swallows a barium containing liquid.Barium shows up in x_rays and helps the doctor identify what is going on in the esophagus in more detail, especially muscular activity.
3.Manometry..This study measures the pressure changes produced by contractions
of muscular portions of the esophagus.

Now I would like to suggest you to keep check on your diet also. You should eat some thing balanced diet with complex carbohydrate and protein in dinner too.For example small bowl of brown rice with lentil etc.Keep in mind that skipping meals and gap of more than 2 and half hours between meal ,could increase your acid reflux disease. So Have proper 3 meals with 2 light meals with fruits, sprouts or salad.Do not eat fruits and salads with lunch or dinner, rather keep them for having during mid meals.
You may also have proton pump inhibitors for example Tab.esmoprazole 30 mg half hour before breakfast and dinner to decrease acid production ,and the irritation of esophagus.

Hopefully my answer will be helpful for you.You may get back to me ,if I need o clarify more.
Regards,Dr.Maheshwari
