Suggest Treatment For Depression, Moodiness And Lack Of Libido

Question: My husband has a thyroid problem and is on synthroid and on Testerone shots he has become moody depressed angry no sex drive and feels like he he is disconnected, he is not the same person I married. I have been reading about both diseases and very overwhelmed on my first step to take to get him healthy again.

Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.

Don't worry. First thing to make sure is whether he is adequately replaced by these hormones.

You should check thyroid function tests and Testosterone levels midway between two testosterone shots to see if we need to increase the dose.

If both are normal we should see if there are other causes of low energy. We should do tests for blood glucose, cholesterol, vitamin D, B12 deficiency, cortisol, complete blood count,electrolytes, liver and kidney functions after a clinical examination by a good doctor.
