Question: my mother was having cough, chest congestion and fever...when attended doctor, advised to take clavam625, Allegra m, expect B and betonine vitamin.

but after taking 2 days, my mom experienced right leg nerve pulling...again attended neurologist and after NCS and CTscan of lower limb found little compression in joints...diagnosed like l5s1 radiculopathy.
.and advised medicine avina neuro, vasfree, gembone, pregabid nt for 6 weeks..

my mom still continuing clavam625 but doses 1 daily instead of 2 daily as prescribed..
but cough is not cured and cough suppression is still there...

Now what to do? continue with neuro medicines? already discontinued Allegra m tab as too many medicines overlapped

Brief Answer:
Change the antibiotic. Keep taking the "neuro" drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

1. I suggest that you change the antibiotic. Clavam is an antibiotic.
2. Sometimes germs develop resistance to antibiotics.
3. It was not necessary to discontinue Allegra. It can be restarted.
There is no drug interaction.
4. The leg pains are a different illness and have nothing to do with the cough and
cold.
5. I would suggest that the "Neuro" medicines be continued. As per the neurologists advice.
6. You need to do an antibiotic sensitivity test. Take the cough sputum to a laboratory. They will predict the right antibiotic.

Thanks,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar
