Suggest Treatment For Cold, Post Nasal Drip And Severe Headache

default
Posted on Thu, 20 Aug 2015
Question: I have had a cold for one week. Lots of post nasal drip. Today I have an awful headache. Makes me somewhat nauseous. We were in a high altitude for the last 4 days, back home at sea level now. I have taken tylenol, aspirin, and Excederine (tylenol, aspirin and caffeine!) I don't want to take too much tylenol. I have to go to a funeral tonight. Any other suggestions.

Brief Answer:
cool compresses and hydration

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The best things you can do for a headache are cool compresses to the forehead and really drink a lot of water. Ibuprofen or aleve may be more helpful than the other medications you have tried. Sometimes a dose of caffeine will help as well, so try a cup of coffee or tea.
I am sorry that you are having to deal with this at this time.
Let me know if you have further questions.
Sincerely,
Dr Robinson
