Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation During Urinate

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Aug 2015
Question: I have been having a burning sensation when I urinate (47 year old male) for the last several days. My GP is having complete urine test completed. Results should be back in a couple of days. He feels it may be Prostasis or UTI (although dip test in office did not show any signs). I noticed a very slight cut (tiny) on the end of my penis. Not sure if this would be related. Some slight pain tonight in my one side (but that could also be in my head). No noticable discharge (with any color). Some slight dribbling as I am hesitant to urinate. Once I do urinate it burns instantly ... and stops all together after done urinating. Any ideas you can share?

Brief Answer:
could be infection.

Detailed Answer:
Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!

An infection is still the primary diagnosis I would think of and should be the first to be ruled out with a urinalysis and possibly a urine culture. Infection in the urethra(urethritis), bladder (cystitis) or the prostate (prostatitis).

Are you sexually active? Did you had a sexual encounter with a high risk individual days or weeks prior to your onset of symptoms?

Treatment is usually antibiotic and prostate infection doesn't always show in a urine sample. I would also get a KUB prostate ultrasound to check for abnormalities. Prostatitis is commonly caused by infection and is treated for one month of antibiotics.

In the meantime I would drink plenty of fluids (2liters a day), abstain from ejaculation and any sexual activity.
