Suggest Treatment For Anxiety Attacks Post Unprotected Sexual Intercourse

Question: This maybe a long read, but I wanted to start with I have bad anxiety.

So first I wanted to start with my story, back in Feb 2014 I had unprotected sex with my ex girlfriend, in April 2014 I went on a blind date with a girl who needed up French kissing me pretty aggressively (I have a slight case of gingivitis).

In July 2014, I was shocked/electruted at work (high volts, low amps) much like a taser. After that shock I became constipated, had a loss of appetite, loss of weight, a slight pain around the location of the appendix (which was removed 14 years ago) and was fatigued. This lasted almost 2 + months. During this time I had: CBC, ultrasound, CT scan, Colonoscpy and Endoscopy done. All came back clear.

Now I also was tested for HIV (due to my anxiety) I took two rapids one in July (which was 3months from the kiss and 5from the ex gf) one in Sept which was (5months from the kiss and 7 from the ex gf) and I took one from my Doctor in October (which was about 167 days from the kiss and 8 months from the GF) all came back Negative

What I wanted to ask was, is it safe to say my symptoms are from the shock? Do they sound like HIV symptoms at all or can I consider my tests conclusive?

Brief Answer:
You are HIV negative, Your anxiety is the key here...

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX ,

I have read and understand your concern,

I am Dr Arun Tank, Infectious Disease Specialist, answering your query.

Your symptoms are not because of the electrical shock. They are also not symptoms of HIV, they probably are the anxiety because of the sexual incident.

Many patients I attended have the same symptoms, but actually they are non reactive for HIV.

Your tests are conclusive, the only thing you have to do is remove the incident from your life if you have to live a healthy and tension free life.

Oral kissing while you have gingivitis never causes HIV. There are some inhibitor substances in saliva which prevents HIV transmission.

Though you have had the sex on Feb 2014, you tested multiple times and all the results had been upto the mark.

I advice you forget the incidence and involve your mind in some extra activity which keeps you away from the incidence.

I will be happy to answer your further concern. You can ask here or you can ask me on bit.ly/DrArun.

Thank you,
Dr Arun Tank

Why is it that those symptoms only occurred after the shock? Until that point I was perfectly fine.

Brief Answer:
Most likely a coincidence...
Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for asking query.

In my opinion, it is just a coincidence that such fear started after shock.

Other wise this problem has nothing to do with electric shock.

Please come forward for more queries.

Thank you,

Brief Answer:
Test is conclusive, symptoms not of HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for query.

Yes, your 8 month test is conclusive, there is no need to test you again.

In fact test conducted after 3 month of exposure is conclusive, as you have passed 8 months there is no question of inconclusiveness.

No, your symptoms are not due to HIV. Only thing you have to do is you have to remove that incidence from your mind. It is the way you can live tension free.

If you think you can't delete incidence I suggest you to visit the nearby psychiatrist, they do good counselling and psychotherapy to you. This will help you recover from such a tension.

Please come up with queries if you have.

Thank you.
