Brief Answer:
Surgery is ideal treatment for abscess in anus..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXX,

I understand your concern.

I am Dr. Arun Tank, infectious diseases specialist, answering your query.

Abscess in anus region requires a surgical drainage.

Abscess in anus region is prone to resistant for routine antibiotic treatment. As you have taken the drug Clarithromycin but it was not responding.

Surgical operation under local anaesthesia and drainage of pus followed by antibiotic treatment is the definitive treatment.

For the pain relief purpose you can take high fibre diet, mild laxatives, ispagulla husk etc. This reduces constipation and hence relieves your pain.

Maintaining local hygiene can help reduce infection spread.

Please see a Surgeon in your area for examination and drainage of the abscess.

I will be happy to answer your further concern, you can ask me here or you can contact me on bit.ly/DrArun.
Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for the query.

Clarithromycin is the best medication you are using, you could possibly add metronidazole to it. If you are having pain, you can use xylocaine jelly for local application. Please take the above medication under your Doctors guidance though.

You can also use Betadine ointment for dressing and cleaning purpose.
