Suggest Remedy For Severe Cough And Cold

Question: Hello -

I had cough and cold for past 2 days. Sneezing has decreased but heavy cough have been there now. I had Grillinctus and few pieces of Ginger, but not much relief.

Request your help.

I have gone through your query and being your physician I appreciate your health concerns.
Do you have fever?
Based upon the history you have provided it seems to be common cold.. All you need is to stay. Calm .
If I am your attending physician I will prescribe you saline gargles with tepid water three times a day. In addition to it, I will prescribe you anti allergic drugs like cetrizine 10 mg daily coupled with antibiotics from cephalosporin group like cefaclor....acetaminophen you can add in case of fever.
Meanwhile stay calm and avoid cold exposure. Use hot fluids like soup , coffee etc.

Can u plzz suggest an antibiotic from cephalosporin group. I dont have any fever.

I appreciate your followup....
You can use antibiotic to prevent secondary bacterial infection. In your case. , cefaclor 500mg two times a day for five days is appropriate.. Please get the same prescribed by your doctor, as it is prescription only.
