Suggest Remedy For Nasal Drainage Caused By Allergy

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Nov 2015
Question: my special needs daughter has post nasal drainage from allergies. This has been established. OTC drugs, Zirtec, Claritin, Alegra, have controlled it for several months. Two days ago they stopped working. Allergist Dr. prescribed Levocetirizine and Flonase yesterday. Not working. Can I give her anything else tonight? When do we give up on these two drugs?

Brief Answer:
Steam inhalation will be helpful

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Sir

If its proven to be due to allergy then long term mast cell stabilisers like Montelukast is required.
For acute control of symptoms i would suggest you the following apart from medication the child is already needing

1. Steam inhalation: preferably using electronic steamer will be helpful to relieve the nasal congestion

2. Xylometazoline nasal drops and Fluticasone nasal spray will be very helpful in immediate control of nasal symptoms

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you

Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life

Take Care
