Suggest Remedy For Cough, Sinusitis And Bronchitis

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Dec 2015
Question: I have been talking online to a specific doctor and would like to continue with her. I have just recharged my account.
My question now is -
Since last night I have had a really dry tickle in my throat and makes me choke. I have tried everything and won't clear. I also had mucus in my throat which I can't swallow or cough up. Is this sinus, post bronchitis (although have had at times before bronchitis) or a new upper respiratory infection? And what should I do. No wheeze or shortness of breath just a really dry tickle which makes me suddenly choke and have a coughing fit??

Brief Answer:
URTI, strepsils, saltwater gargling, tablet recofast.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
Based on the information provided by you, it might be upper respiratory tract infection. I would suggest you to do salt water gargling three to four times a day.
I would suggest you to suck strepsils three to four per day, drink plenty of warm water.
Take tablet recofast there times a day for three days.
You should be fine with these measures in a week.

Hope this helps, I'll be glad to address your further queries.
Take care.

Hi,
Thank you for replying. I have actually tried these and hasn't helped yet. As emailed previously I had acute bronchitis 2 months ago and that began with a dry tickly cough too so I want to check I won't get again.
I am an ex smoker. I have never had any lung or breathing problems but did have mild asthma as a child with a lot of allergies and post nasal drip.
This year I have been hit with a couple of colds plus acute bronch which cleared after two weeks of Antibiotics. I am a IDDm so prone to weak immune system. As I haven't had and lung diseases and X-Ray's were always ok till current mild inflamm with acute bronchitis, you don't think my immune system or cilia are destroyed do you? Note I have never had a productive cough but now just have a tickle in throat and mouth started yesterday. That is not serious is it?
Disregard smoking question. I have never had smokers cough or wheeze or difficultly breathing and X-rays etc have been fine. 3 GP's said no smoking damage is shown in latest X-ray just acute infection.

Please just respond to the tickly cough as to whether it is allergy (post nasal), residual bronchitis from cold temp or a new infection and whether I should start antibiotics ? Augmentin Forte?

Brief Answer:
take the treatment as suggested, you will be fine

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Good to hear from you.
Kindly follow the measures as suggested earlier along with that get an X Ray chest done. Avoid smoking. The present symptom is more in favor of URTI.

Since when you have started taking the treatment, if it is from yesterday, I would suggest you to continue taking the treatment for next few more days. As you are presenting with dry tickle in the throat, with absent of fever, it might be allergic in origin so I would suggest you to take over the counter antihistamine like ceterizine for three days along with other measures as mentioned above.
Based on the information provided I don't think there is anything wrong with your cilia or immunity.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Thank you for replying. Yes only began yesterday. Had a chest X-ray with initial acute bronchitis which showed mild airway inflammation. Have not done since but bronchitis cleared. I do have a deviated septum which causes mucus to get stuck in throat and tickly dry cough at times. I don't believe I have any lung or smoking condition as I have no shortness of breath, no wheezing and definitely no productive cough. I assume that means I have no smoking disease or damaged cilia, is that correct?

based on the information, I don't think you have any lung related problems

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Good to hear from you.
Based on the information provided by you, you don't appear to have any lung related problem. Kindly take the treatment as mentioned above and along with it do steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil.

Hope this helps.
