Question: This is regarding preponing my periods.
My marriage is on 8th of May. Last period was on 5th of March.
I need to prepone my periods so that bleeding would stop by 5th of May.
I have nearly 1 and a half month left. Please suggest me how to plan this.

Below is my period log.
Mar 5 20015 XXXXXXX 31 2015
Dec 15 2014
Nov 20 2014
Oct 15 2014.

I am experiencing irregular periods from past 6 months, earlier my period cycle was on an average 29 days. Irregularity started after I took tablet for postponing my periods( That is the first time I took an tablet for this purpose).

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
You basically have slightly irregular periods.
So start from this month itself.
Take tablet norethisterone 5 mg thrice a day for three days from 28th march to 30th march and you will get your periods by 5 the April maximum.
And then take same tablet from 25-27th April and this you will get free in time.
Wish you all the best.
Take care

Thanks for the quick response doctor.

I am health conscious. I would like to understand the effects of the tablets that take.
Could you tell me how this tablet works. And please mention on the side effects and let me know how advisable it is to take these kind of tablets?

Brief Answer:
safe drug

Detailed Answer:
Thanks and I appreciate your health concerns.
Norethisterone is a safe tablet and can be prescribed for menstrual regulation in case of need.
It has no long term side effects if used in prescribed doses.
In some patients it can cause slight nausea and breast ache or mood swings but all these are very transient and seen in less than ten percent of patients.
It is basically a progesterone and it is needed for the support of endometrial lining of the uterus.
So when it is withdrawn the support is gone so causes breakdown of the lining (like in normal periods) and thus menstruation happens in 2-5 days after stopping the drug.
So you can take it as advised without any anxiety.
Take care.
