Question: Hi XXXXXXX

I had asked you a question on my brother Asthma condition from childhood previously and stopping the Foracort 200 which he is taking everyday 2 puff at night.

You suggested taking budesonide 200 twice daily and gradually reducing the dose to see if he can completely get rid of these medications.

I got him the budesonide and after taking it he was complaining about uncomfortableness while sleeping at night and stopped taking it and back to Foracort.

I somehow feel that with his immunity he should be able to get rid of these medications. Please advise if there is anything else I can do to help him to come out of this. He is at present 30 years old

Brief Answer:
Start foracort twice daily.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, your brother should start foracort (200) 1 puff twice daily and acebrophyllin and montek LC tablets at night, before bed.
Montek LC is having montelukast and levocetrizine. Montelukast is anti allergic and levocetrizine is antihistamine.
Acebrophyllin is oral bronchodilator.
All will prevent night time wheezing and give him comfort at night.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Thanks for your response.

But i just want to understand whether it is possible to completely get rid of foracort in long run.

He dont have any asthma symtoms as long as he taking foracort 200 2 puff at night.

Since he is taking foracort from many years now i was just curious to know whther his body got ajusted to that and he is feeing that uncomfortableness when he stops taking it?

Please help with your thoughts.

Brief Answer:
Has he gone through PFT?

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Well, taper down in asthma is very lengthy process.
It takes usually 1-2 years.
Start with foracort 200.
Then taper down to foracort 100.
Then if he still not having symptoms then taper down to budesonide 100 twice daily.
Please let me know if he had PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) done in the past.
I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your brother. Thanks.
