Question: My wife is in her 30th week of pregnancy. She would notice the baby movements and kicks on a regular basis. However, she has noticed any movements nor any kicks all day today and she is concerned. Is this normal baby behavior?

Hello, I would be happy to answer your question. I am sorry about the delay!!

By the 30th week of pregnancy, fetal movement is well established and follows predictable patterns throughout the day. Here is what I tell patients:

1. In any two hour window, you should be able to feel the baby move IF you are paying attention
2. You should be able to count 10 movements in 2 hours
3. There are patterns of movement throughout the day (more movement after meals and in the evenings)

Based on what you are telling me, if she has not done this already, she needs to call her OB/GYN or OB Provider and come in to be monitored. Please do this right away.

If you have any followup questions, please ask!!

Hi, I am a 43 yr old female. I have not had regular periods for 2 yrs. I have 3 children, 17. 11. 6. I had unprotected sex at the end of July. Never did I think I could be pregnant. I feel a lot of movement lately, as if I was pregnanto in my stomach, light kicks, general fetal movements, I know that feeling. I did a test 2 days ago in the afternoon and had a negative, I am not convinced however, otherwise I do not know what these movements are,as I write this, I can feel a lot of movement. I must state I am extremely tired, other than that I have no sore breasts or other symptoms.

I m in my 28th week and a couple nights ago I felt a sharp (not painful though) sensation that sort of felt like my bladder being squeezed. It was in the middle of the night so I got up and went to the bathroom. I had a few more feelings like that the next day. Ever since, I ve noticed my baby s movements aren t as strong or frequent. Is there a connection; should I call my doctor? As I type this, I can feel the baby moving (I just ate lunch), but the movements aren t as strong as they normally are...

I am 33 weeks pregnant. For about the past two weeks ive been feeling contractions (could be Braxton Hicks) and for the past week ive had swollen and numb hands and fingers off and on. Also my arms will feel extremely tired; almost like my limbs are "dead". Ive been counting fetal movement and have only felt him move about three times in the past hour.
