Is There Interaction Between Clarithromycin And Tofranil?
Question: Is there any drug interaction by taking clarythomycin with tofranil. I cannot take very many antibiotics due to reactions. I have always been able to take erythromycin without a problem but erythromycin ost 200.00 for meds. Can you answer

(1)Both increase something called the Qt interval. This refers to the heart and can lead to abnormal heart rhythms.
This can cause fainting and in worse case scenario, sudden cardiac death
(2)The clarithromycin can increase the levels of tofranil by affecting its breakdown in the liver or intestines
It is best to avoid this combination and use an alternative

What would be a better antibiotic to take for this ear infection with 10 mg tofranil only at night. I cannot take amoxicillin. What about doxycycline
