Is The Use Of Super Miraforte With Standardized Lignans Advisable?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Sep 2016
Question: Hello. I'm a 44 y/old, white male with very good health in general: I eat very well, sleep well, stress levels under control, and I exercise six days per week with mid to high intensity. Recently I did my yearly standard health tests and everything came out ok: cholesterol levels, blood markers, urine, glucose, uric acid, etc. My PSA marker test is 0.25 ng/mL. My total testosterone result was 755.0 ng/dL. I have aprox 12% body fat and am very athletic. I practice martial arts and frequently spar rather intensely with much younger men, 25 years old and such. I would like to improve my athletic performance without sacrificing long term health nor risking more serious problems. One doctor has recommended that I take "Super Miraforte with Standardized Lignans" made by LifeExtension labs to "safely" improve my testosterone level and boost my performance. Traditionally I have stayed away from supplements in general but I'm getting to an age when it's harder to keep up with the younger warriors. I would like a second opinion regarding the possible risk and/or side effects of these pills.

Brief Answer:
Protein helps in the repair process and is essential for you.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I appreciate the fact that you are in good health and are committed to staying healthy. I would not prohibit you from taking the listed tablet but would warn you that the claims are not verified. There is no definite evidence that the tablet actually works. Let me also state that for a healthy body you need proteins (form the structure of the body, and help in repair) and carbohydrates (supply energy). These are required in bulk and cannot be contained in tablets or capsules. Vitamins are not stored in the body and are required in micro amounts that come from daily diet. So, regular intake of fruits and vegetables, especially colorful ones, is enough to meet your requirements. You need no supplements.

If you take those, definitely the company manufacturing or marketing the pills would earn their health; I doubt if it would be the same for you. There is no specified risk in taking them (research and documentation lacking). The benefits are just equally doubtful.
