Is Pregnancy Possible Through Intercourse During Menstruation?

default
Posted on Fri, 5 Aug 2016
Question: I had u protected sex on May 27 second day into my period which lasted 7 days. 2 weeks later I got anemic and on the day my period was due I get a 1 day period which was very light. I'm 2 weeks from the first day of my last period and I took 3 pregnancy test all negative. Could it be from my anemia? Or I should test again next week? I've also never had a 1 day period. I am also very light bleeder and has been regular forever but since February of this year my period every month is pushed back a week. Is that normal?

Brief Answer:
No chance for pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi wani. I will be answering your concerns.

The first week of period cycle is safe. Having sex during period does not result in pregnancy. Since you had sex on second day of period cycle, there is no chance for pregnancy.
The period in XXXXXXX may have been light because of your anemia. There is no need to repeat the pregnancy test as long as you have had no other episodes of unprotected intercourse.
You are now in the ovulatory period. That may be causing the bloated feeling.
Bloated feeling can also be related to your diet and lifestyle.
Period cycle of 28-35 days is normal. Don't worry.

I hope this is helpful.
If you have any further concerns, I will be happy to answer.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama
