Brief Answer:
Medical intervention is enough, if asymptomatic.
Detailed Answer:
Hello there,
Nice to meet you here,
The normal level of SGPT [Alkaline transaminase] is 7 to 55 units per litre of serum, as any increase in its value directly related to the
liver damage.
They are mostly elevated by liver damage (caused by underlying insults, mostly blockade of common hepatic ducts) by residing
gall bladder stones.
As you are mentioned only elevated SGPT level (106), I would suggest only medical intervention [usage of bile salts], no need for surgical intervention , unless
gallstone are symptomatic and causing emergency symptoms.
In order to measure the seriousness of
injury, I also suggest you to do other liver function test like SGOT,
gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT ) level to your wife.
Consult your treating surgeon as soon as possible if her symptoms are worsening and get treated accordingly.
Hope helped your query,
