Brief Answer:
tumor is aggressive

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The disease is in AJCC stage 3. This means that the disease is aggressive. Since 10 lymph nodes have metastasis, it means the tumor cells have left the primary tumor site and they have migrated to adjacent lymph nodes. So adjuvant chemotherapy is given to destroy any such tumor cells that have migrated to distant site. In the absence of chemotherapy, there is a high risk of distant metastasis especially to the liver.

If your father is fit enough for chemotherapy, it should be given. The condition should be assessed according to performance status. Even oral form of chemotherapy can be given to him, which he can manage easily. He can stop that if side effects occur.

Hope this answers your query.

if side effects are bad, we also advise to stop treatment/ change treatment.
side effects includes diarrhoea, weakness, decrease in blood counts, fever, numbness in foot or hands etc.
ask him to meet an oncologist in his city. many things to be considered before starting treatment and dosing.
