Is A Negative 16 Day HIV Duo Test Conclusive?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Aug 2017
Question: I had gone for a nude body to body massage on 17th july. The girl gabe me a full body massage while being nude. We did not have sex nor any oral sex. But we kissed for sometime and i sucked her boobs. She had rubbed her vagina against my penis. I did not put any condom during all this time. Then i did some fingering in her vagina. The finger that i used was a bit chipped off around nails and a little bit of blood had come in the morning. I got the massage in the evening. I got my hiv rna quantitative test done on 8th day and it came negative. I got my hiv duo test done on 16th day and full std profile as well. My hiv duo test is negative and i am negative on all std except chlymidia iga (its 2.3) . I am negative on chlymidia igg.

1.Is hiv duo con lusive on 16th day. Am i safe?
2.What does it mean to have chlymidia iga positive and igg negative? Do I have chlymidia?
2 . should i also get my hiv rna test done again on 21st day to rest my case?
3. Is there a possibility that i may have contracted hiv just like chlamydia even without insertive sex?

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Let me assure you that for transmission of HIV you need to have transmission of body fluids. That did not happen and so you are safe. You need not test further. Coming to your questions:
1. The 16th day test is confirmatory. However, testing after 120 days will clear you off all your worries (even thought there is not the slightest chance of it giving HIV positive results).
2. May indicate acute infection or reactivation. Further testing and clinical correlation recommended.
3. Testing after 21 days meaningless.
4. Not a chance.

Let me know if I could help further.

Thanks a ton doctor. Few more queries:

1.I have heard that hiv combo test should be done after 4 weeks or 6weeks to be conclusive? How correct is that? Should i get it done then as well?
2. What medicine and for how long should i take for chlamydia.. In how many days it gets treayed?
3. Is there a chance that hiv virus could have accessed my blood stream from the small tear i had around my nail.. It was not bleeding profusely, but had a little bit blood
4. Thougj you have denied it but i am still worried that If i have contracted chlamydia, i ciuld have caught hiv as well from the fluids.
5. Attached is the report i got after 16 days. Is this a bit different from 4th generation test?

Very worried.

Brief Answer:
Get retested 120 days from exposure. Stop worrying if still negative.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

1. As I have mentioned, testing after 120 days or 4 months is best. Negative results would be conclusive.
2. If you have chlamydia, your doctor will prescribe oral antibiotics, usually azithromycin or doxycycline. A 7-day course of antibiotics should be given for treatment.
3. Not unless you had an actively bleeding sore.
4. Repeat test 120 days from exposure.
5. The technicalities do not matter.
Brief Answer:
Not concerning

Detailed Answer:
The small cut is unlikely to be a cause for concern.
I would not consider it to be threatening.

Thanks doctor. As you had mentioned in the post earlier to the above one, looking at the event hiv combo test is conclusive on 16th day, then does t mean that the small cut I had near my nail is not a concern? The wound was like when you bite your nail at sides, and a little bit of skin comes of with blood. Do u consider such kind of wound threatening?
