Is PSA Value Of 2.32 A Cause For Concern?

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Jul 2015
Question: Dear Doctor,
I am 67 years old and had my prostate removed in 2008. My PSA results in 2012 was 0.938. I did another test in 2014 and it was 1.1 and in 2015 it was 2.32. My doctor sent me to the urologist who recommended an MRI and bone scan. These are very expensive tests. So I have decided to take baking soda and molasses. Would his make a difference in the reading of the PSA and would it deal with any cancer present in my body? I am 5ft 8" in height and weigh 199 lbs. My email address is YYYY@YYYY and my nameis XXXX

Brief Answer:
No, it is useless or has not been studied much to be considered useful.

Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

If you have a prostatic cancer, avoiding the proper diagnostic procedure will not help you save from the cancer. The medicinal products you are talking about, are not so useful if you have a prostatic cancer. If we look at your PSA readings, they are low in range and progressively being raised. It is alarming and needs an MRI to see the cause for that.

But remember, every raised PSA level does not mean its a cancer. So please dont panic. Many benign prostatic diseases also have raised PSA levels.

If you will go for an MRI, at least you will get satisfaction what is going on inside there. I know it is an expensive test. But unfortunately there is no way out. You have to go for it. If there is a carcinoma, you need proper treatment. We can't just leave cancer to grow up and kill us. You need an urgent decision and care.

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns. I will be happy to get back to you shortly. If satisfied here, please give a five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.

Regards!
