Question: I had a bladder and kidney infection that spread to the blood caused by ecoli bacteria. I had 104.5 fever and was hospitalized. Was this sepsis? What is c-reactive protein. My count was 18.

I am sorry to hear that you had sepsis from an E coli urinary tract infection. The definition of sepsis is bacteria in the blood stream. You are lucky as some people die from this type of infection. The C reactive protein is a marker for infection or infection. Once the inflammation is resolved your C reactive protein will return to normal.
