Question: Hi Doc. My wife has pregnancy of 45 days (also confirmed with a doc) and we want to abort it. I bought mifty kit by otsira. Please suggest the correct way of using the kit.

Then it should be dated by an ultrasound scan because the pills work within a specific time frame only.
The pill kit generally contains 1 tablet of Mifepristone and 4 tablets of Misoprostol.
1 tablet of Mifepristone is given at once orally , followed 24 hours later by 2 tablets of Misoprostol vaginally / orally and then 2 more another 24 hours later.
AFter this, you would have bleeding with cramps and expulsion of a fleshy mass.
Heavy bleeding lasts for a few days, and spotting / bleeding might continue upto 2 weeks.
A follow up scan after 2 weeks is essential to check that the abortion succeeded and the uterine cavity is empty.
There are certain side effects of the abortion process that you should be aware of.
Severe uncontrolled bleeding might occur rarely.
If you do not follow all steps of precaution, there might be rarely an undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy, fainting , infection etc.
Pros are that you would have an abortion safely in more than 95 % of cases, without risk of a surgery .
In 4 % of cases, the pills might fail , and you might require surgical abortion.
Rarely , persistent sequelae like infection may prevail.
If you vomit any of the pills within 4 hours of consumption, repeat the dosage.

After the abortion, please use reliable contraceptive method for atleast 3 months.

hi Doc. ..We have used 1 tab of mifepristone yesterday morning and two tablets misoprostol in the midnight.....bleeding started at 2 O clock and is continue since then....There were every symptoms as you told me...... now she is feeling very week ....kind of unconcious at times.......I don't know what to do...what should I give her to eat......also does she need to take the other two pills...bleeding and expulsion of fleshy mass already occurred. ...The truth is don't have the courage to take the other two pills. Please suggest the how to handle and take care.
