How Soon After Waking Up Should Breakfast Be Taken?

default
Posted on Wed, 19 Aug 2015
Question: Hello. I have a small question to ask, but very important for me to create a healthy lifestyle. I wake up at 7am in morning. 7-8 i meditate. 8-9 i jog. 9:30 i have my breakfast. There is no way I can change this schedule, because in evening i have no time for exercise and meditation. Now my question is, is it ok to have breakfast two and a half hours after waking up. I read on many pages on the web that you should have breakfast one hour after waking up, as it kickstarts your metabolism. But in my case, its absolutely impossible.
Please help me, as this thing is very important to me. Please tell me what should i do. I know one hour gap is best. But is a two and a half hour gap acceptable as normal, for those people who jog or meditate before having breakfast??
And is it ok to do jogging fifteen minutes after waking up?? Please answer this too.

Brief Answer:
Breakfast should be taken within 1 hour of waking up.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

I have read your query and understand the concern.

It would be advisable to have breakfast within 1 hour after getting up.Because during sleep our metabolism is slow and it requires immediate energy or fuel to restart as usual. Also early breakfast improves our mood and reduces cortisol level.

So,it would not be advisable to have breakfast after period of two and half hour of waking up
(although it is not abnormal but not advisable) because you are likely to eat more food or high calories to satisfy hunger when you take something after 2 hours of waking up.

In your case two scenarios are possible,

1) You can have breakfast around 7:15 am and can go for jogging between 7:30 to 8:30 followed by meditation.(here 15 minutes gap would be sufficient between breakfast and jogging)

2) You can go for jogging between 7 to 7:45 am followed by breakfast at around 8:am means fifteen minutes after jogging and which would be sufficient.

Morning workout i.e.jogging for half an hour would be also enough for that day.

In both the scenarios, your meditation will be the last.

Hope this will help you and feel free to ask if there is any query.

Wow. That was a terrific answer. I have one solution now. That will be perfect for me I guess. Please tell me if it works??

I wake up at 7am.
I jog from 7:15 - 8:00 am.
I have my breakfast at 8:05 am.
Meditation i can do later in the evening somehow.

Is it fine??

Now my last and only question is. If i wake up at 7 am, is it absolutely fine to start jog at 7:15 am?? I.e. Fifteen minutes after waking up??

Brief Answer:
Yes,go ahead

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the quick follow-up.

Yes,you can go for jogging after 15 minutes of getting up and completing brush and bowel evacuation.

Means it would be like scenario2 what I have answered earlier.

There will be no issue with this schedule followed by meditation.

Hope this will be helpful.
