Question: Was taking 20 mgs of prednizone for a week and after just 4 days noticed fat on me, I stopped today as my knee is better so when will the fatness go.... Gained 4 lbs an feel hugely bloated

Brief Answer: A week or two. Detailed Answer: Hi Mrs XXXX, Good morning. This is Dr Suresh attending you. Prednisolone will have side effects like weight gain and fat redistribution after at least 3 weeks of taking 20 mg dose. one can have bloating when they develop gastritis which may start with first dose. However, some individuals may see them much earlier, as you are. As you have stopped it, you should see them revert back within another week, if they have been caused by this drug. A general rule is; prednisolone is better avoided, unless clearly indicated in people over 60 as it can weaken bones and may induce fractures. Hope i was of some help.
