Brief Answer:
More than 200 mg/dl

Detailed Answer:
Good day.
Noted your question. Fasting glucose of 126 or higher and 2 hours post meal or random glucose 200 or higher is diabetes range. 2 hour post meal glucose between 140 to 200 is called as pre diabetes range. fasting glucose between 100 to 126 is also called as pre diabetes range.

I take statins.does it increase post prandial glucose level and does it causes alcohol intolerance
doctor
Answered by Dr. Binu Parameswaran Pillai (8 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Older statins increase risk of diabetes

Detailed Answer:
There is some evidence that older statins ( simvastatin, Pravastatin, Lovastatin and ?? Atorvastatin) to induce high sugars and more chances of diabetes. This theory has to be proven. However, many studies have shown that Atorvastatin and Rosuvastatin are glucose neutral. Statin doesn't cause alcohol intolerance, but statins and alcohol ( excess) can cause liver enzyme changes.

when to test the glucose reading? is it one hour after eating or two hours .cause my numbers are peak around 180 one hour and coming down to 140 after two hours
doctor
Answered by Dr. Binu Parameswaran Pillai (7 hours later)
Brief Answer:
2 hours after starting the meal

Detailed Answer:
It is recommended to do post meal glucose readings 2 hours after starting the meal ( not after finishing meal). Some doctors recommend 1.5 hours to 2 hours. Even that is fine too. 140 after 2 hours is normal reading.
