Brief Answer:
can increase the risk of bleeding

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Xarelto is a medication that is used to reduce clotting, plavix is also used for this function as well.
This means that there is an increased risk of bleeding if both medications are used together.

They are only used together if the risk of a clot occurring is higher than the risk of bleeding.

Knee replacement does increase the risk of clotting so medications to reduce clotting are normally needed.
MTHFR gene is a gene that is involved in making folic acid.Problems with this gene can increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.

It is possible that the combination of conditions is the reason that you were put on two medications but you should discuss any concerns that you have with your doctor.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
