Does Rabipur Vaccination Cause Loss Of Consciousness?
Question: my son is 17 yrs old.A pet dog scratched his leg for which i had taken him to a doctor and he suggested for one ats and rabipur. When the doctor pushed ats & then rabipur ,he started shivering and become unconscious. Kindly suggest whether 2nd injection will be given or not.

Rabipur is a vaccine produced on purified chick embryo cell.The hypersensitivity reactions are more with this vaccine in comparison to Rabivax(Produced on Human diploid cell).
The rabipur vaccine should be given intramuscularly,but when administered in the vessel inadvertently it can cause serious reaction.So this might be a possibility in your case.
Mild reaction can be managed conservatively but as there is history of getting unconscious it is a severe reaction and in such condition it should not be repeated.
As he was bitten by a pet dog(if vaccinated) and there is scratch on the leg, it comes under low risk.
Here in this condition I would like to
1)Change the vaccine Rabipur to Rabivax
3)Vaccination should be given in a good health care setting
2)Every preparation must be made before vaccination to manage the adverse reaction
