Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in details.
Protonix or pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitors and decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is taken at least 30 minutes before food for good results.

Pantoprazole, like any other medication might cause mild side effects including diarrhea, muscle cramps, weakness or headaches. Side effects due to pantoprazole are rare and only if you get any of the above listed symptoms, it is important to stop medication and discuss with your doctors.

Sulpha drugs are fount in antibiotics and cause side effects in 1 out of ten people who have taken it. This is not the case with pantoprazole. Therefore it less likely that you will experience any allergy to pantoprazole.

However please watch out for following symptoms after taking pantoprazole.
diarrhea
abnormal rapid heart rate
muscle jerks and weakness
muscle cramps, muscle weakness or limp feeling;
choking
headache, dizziness and shallow breathing

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
