Question: I'm 45 taking eritelCH40 for high blood pressure ,I feel it is impacting saxual life due to poor erection.please suggest

tablet eritel ch contains a combination of two salts telmisartan and chlorthaliadone.
Chlorthaliadone is a thiazide group of diuretic , most commonly encountered side effect of long term use of thiazide is sexual dysfunction, loss of libido and difficulty in getting a erection, the changes are reversible.
Ask your cardiologist to shift you from chlorthaliadone to amlodipine ,amlodipine is a dihydropyridine group of calcium channel blocker.Its a very safe antihypertensive ,with no effects on sexual function.

Your cardiologist can shift you from Eritel ch to amlodipine 5mg to 10mg once daily dose ,depending on your blood pressure.

Once shifted to amlodipine ,your problem will be resolved in 2-3 weeks.

Thanks Dr. Saxena, in fact this medicine was suggested by physician around three years back when I was discovered with high BP 140/100 and on that particular day 140/110 .I got relief in anxiety and sudden anger and BP maintainedat 105/75 after starting this tablet. But slowly I felt deterioration in my sexual function. As I'm not getting any consultancy from cardiologist, I request you to please suggest the alternative name of medicine, which I can start immediately Or should I ask chemist to give tamlodipine .
Secondly, Is it the only reason fir deterioration in saxual function as sometimes errection is good enough but mostly I encountered problem of poor errection.
Does age of 45 yrs matters? Kindly suggest.

Hi again ,

You should start with Amlodipine 5mg for 14days monitor your blood pressure every 5th day so that doses could be increased or decreased as per the response of your body.

45 is not a age of sexual dysfunction in males normally, however if things don't improve after 3 weeks ,Tab Tadalafil can be taken to improve erections.

thanks Dr, I have started prescribed tablet Amlodac5 for BP two days back ,checked the BP today 132/96 before taking the table shall check it again afternoon.But I observed very good results against dysfunctions in last two days only.
One more information I want to share that I consume alcohol (3 pegs) 3-4 days in a week .
Also convey the power of Tadalafil (50 or 100).

Blood pressure should be checked every third say for first 21days.
You will be fine soon.
Tadalfil should be taken maximum 20mg at a time .
It should not be taken along with alcohol.
