Does Depo Shot And Morning After Pill Cause Infertility?
Question: Hello,
I did something twenty years ago that remains on my conscience and I wondered if you can give me an answer.
I was in a relationship with a girl who was on the depo shot (I am from the UK). I had sex with her and due to my selfishness and stupidity I insisted she get the morning after pill because I was concerned the depo wouldn't work. She did via family planning clinic.
Years later I have become extremely concerned that I may have harmed her fertility by making her do this due to the overload of hormones. I have spent hours researching online and I just would like an answer either way.
Please can you give a concise answer so that I know you know what you're talking about! If you are not certain please say as I would rather an honest response than an intelligent guess.

I like to tell you that, there is no need to blame yourself as a single overdose of hormone does not ruin one's fertility. You might be aware that over a month period women's body goes through tremendous changes including the fluctuation in the hormone level.
Thanks to these fluctuations, her body can tolerate major fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone hormone level.
Adding a single Morning after pill (dosage just double of oral contraceptive pill) to depot preparation (releases hormone equal to dose of one OCP) , makes almost three or four OCP pills that particular day. I like to inform you that just before ovulation the level of hormones peaks about five to 10 times of normal.
To emphasize again, I assure you that by insisting for a morning after pill you did not ruin her fertility and it was done in good faith to prevent pregnancy.
