Does Ciprofloxacin Interact With Venlafaxine, Ranitidine, Amitriptyline And Bisoprolol?
Question: I have made an error by taking:
2 x Ciprofloxacin 250mg tablets instead of 1
Naproxen 500 mg 1 tablet
Co-Codamol 30/500 2 tablets
Are these tablets OK to take together and do I need to stop taking any other medications today that I normally take
I normally take:
Venlafaxine 150mg a day
Ramapril 5mg a day
Bisoprolol 2.5 mg a day
Amitriptyline 20mg a day
Metformin 500mg a day
Ranitidine 300 mg a day
Simbastatin 10mg a day
Lansoprozole 30 mg a day

They both increase the levels of a chemical called serotonin causing serotonin syndrome, high likelihood of serious reaction. Generally the combination is not advised unless the benefit outweigh the risk.
Ciprofloxacin can potentially increase the effects of metformin but this is not likely to have a significant effect.
Naproxen can decrease the effect of bisoprolol so the blood pressure should be monitored though this effect may not be significant, it also decreases the effect of ramipril.
Venlafaxine and naproxen can potentially act to increase the toxicity (side effects) of each other, this may or may not occur.
