Hi, I recently started taking ramipril 2.5mgs for high blood pressure . I have been on it before but stop taking it because increased heart rate is more uncomfortable than high blood pressure. I told my doctor I would stay on it this time. I have been using it for about a month now. Without ramipril my blood pressure fluctuates from 135/92 to 149/102 with my heart rate fairly steady at 67 beats per minute. As soon as I start taking ramipril my blood pressure cycles from 109/78 but most often is around 128/97 but my heart rate never goes below 97 beats per minute. With my heart rate so high I always feel anxious and often don’t feel comfortable with my heart rate so high. If I stop taking ramipril for two days my heart rate goes back to a constant 67 beats per minute but my blood pressure goes back up. I don’t feel comfortable with my heart rate so high. I notice in the rare side effects of ramipril it includes increased heart rate. Should I stop taking ramipril?

doctor1 MD

SO MY SUGGESTION IS TO...

My blood pressure went down to 110/70 after being on Ramipril for almost 2 years, my doctor said to go off of it for a month and see what happens. I would suspect my blood pressure will go up again and I will have to go back on it. She's worried 110/70 is too low a blood pressure for me. So should I just keep taking Ramipril ?

doctor1 MD

HI THANKS FOR YOUR QUERY. ITS REALLY UNSCIENTIFIC TO ABRUPTLY STOP ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS.THIS CAN HAVE DISASTROUS OUTCOMES LIKE REBOUND ELEVATION OF BLOOD PRESSURE AND HEART ATTACKS....YOUR BP IS IN CONTROL BECAUSE OF RAMIPRIL. A BP OF 110-70 IS VERY MUCH WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS AND IS NOT LOW AS...

Hi XXXXXXX

i'm on 10mg amlodipine, 5mg bisoprolol and 10mg ramipril. Since last friday (13th) I woke up with a painful right foot. The only thing to change recently was the addition of ramipril, I havent' taken it since thursday, should I continue or stop? Any idea what this is and will it pass?

doctor1 MD

Hello,

Most probably the pain is due to conditions like plantar fasciitis.

As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated. In severe cases, you...

Hi, I am presently on ramipril 2.5mgs q.am and metoproplol 6.25 mgs b.i.d. and have been on this dose for a year. The ramipril was 5mgs OD but was reduced to2.5mgs because of the side effects. which were tingling and strange awful feeling in my body. When the ramipril was initially reduced I was fine but the same side effects have returned and I become physically uncomfortable and anxious. Today I withheld my medication to see if the symptoms will disappear, but am wondering if I could take the ramipril q. 2 days and the metoprolol 6.25 mgs once a day instead of bid.
My blood pressure has been in the low normal and pulse also. Right now my BP is 107/72 and pulse 66.
My doctor is away and I can``t consult with my cardiologist for some time. How long does the ramipril and metoprolol stay in the system. What do you recommend? The side effects are unbearable. Thank you for your support and expertise, XXXXXXX
