Question: good morning. I have a doctor friend who has been encouraging me to take the supplement nicotinamide riboside, as I have Parkinsons' Disease for 10 years. I also take atorvastatin for my cholesterol and take Thyroxine. Should I be concerned about adverse interactions with the meds I take and the nicotinamide?

Brief Answer:
Nicotinamide ribinoside

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have Parkinson's disease and a doctor friend suggested that you try nicotinomide ribinoside to help with the Parkinson's. The reason he recommend it is that Nicotinomide helps the nerve stem cells from dying. This may help reduce the progression of the Parkinson's. Unfortunately there are no studies substantiating that claim.

Your other question is Are there any drug interactions with the nicotinomide and atrovastatin and thyroxine. Doing a search on this found no drug interactions between any of these drugs. So if you want to try the nicotinomide you may do so without concerns of drug interactions.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
