Hi XXXXXXX,
Thanks for posting your query.
Kindly give details of medicines for hypertension, diabetes.
This cough may be a side effects of her medicines.
Has she undergone spirometry in past? What was the reports?
Has she taken consultation with physician/ respiratory physician? What was their finding and impression? What medicines has she taken previously?
On examination, Ronchi or wheeze were present or not?
Is there any feeling of cough drainage from nose to throat? This shows presence of post nasal drip, and you should consult with ENT surgeon to rule out persisting sinusitis.
There is one unusual entity "cough variant asthma" in which patient has persisting cough with normal examination.
In such cases, bronchodilator therapy with beta 2 agonist with anticholinergics by inhalational therapy are useful.
She should also go for Spirometry, broncho-alveolar lavage, bronchoscopy.
Put your query if you have.
Best regards,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
