Can Stress Cause Irregular Periods?

default
Posted on Thu, 15 Oct 2015
Question: l am usually very regular with my monthly cycle. I started bleeding 2 days ago, 2 weeks early a very dark, almost black blood. Yesterday, it turned to a very bright blood and then almost stopped last night. But then it just sort of gushed out very bright blood and continued like that all night until I passed 2 very large clots that were very dark again. Now, Im exhausted after sleeping pretty good and my flow is still bright red but very minimal. Is this just a stress thing? I have been under an abnormal amount of stress.

Brief Answer:
Stress related variation in periods

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns about variation in periods.

Stress leads to abnormalities in the menstrual cycle and hence lead to irregular periods.

This bleeding you had is preponed periods due to variation in hormones due to stress.

Let me know if you need any more clarification.
