Can Vyanase Cause Vaginal Yeast Infections In Women?

Posted on Tue, 24 Mar 2015
Question: I have been diagnosed with fungal infection. This started after I was prescribed Aderall for AADD. Aderall has changed my life. I am relaxed, able to concentrate and mush happier. It does not raise my Blood Pressure ore interfere with sleep. However, I seem to be among the unlucky few who develop fungal infection from it. I am on a course of fluconazole, which has helped greatly. My prescriber has since switched me to Vayanse, which I am in the process of filling. I've read that Vyanase can cause vaginal yeast infections in Women. Since I'm a male, do I need to be concerned about Vyanase exacerbating the fungal infection resulting from Aderall?

Dr. XXXXXXX Rauf,

Thans so much for the quick response. I have a follow-up question. In light of the rarity of a profuse fungal response to Aderall, should I be concerned about an underlying cause to my susceptibility? Could there be an underlying disease process which had already compromised my immune system or is my fungal reaction merely a reflection of the PH changes rendered by the use of Aderall. I am a diabetic. However, my condition was discovered immediately and my glucose is always under control. My A1C is alway normal or very close to it

In July, I suffered significant kidney function impairment with a GFR of 35. My Primary Care Physician attributed this to diabetes but I don't see how I could have that kind of organ involvement when my Diabetes has been under control. At that time , I also had skin ulcers and facial swelling indicative of fungal infection. This was shortly after I started taking Aderall. My condition has greatly improved sice then and my Nephrologist says he doesn't have to see me for a year. But, he was incensed that my Primary Care Physician did not take my July condition seriously and believes I should have been hospitalized.

I have a history of oral and scrotal ulcers, anemia, muscle spasm, low kidney function, high Sed Rate, colitis and low Testosterone. Could this be related to a long standing Fungal infection which was exacerbated by Aderrall? Or perhaps some other chronic condition? I have not been able to get my providers to take these issues seriously.
Thank You!

Brief Answer:
Long standing fungal infection may cause the symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for the follow-up query. You can ask as many questions as you want for you satisfaction. I'm available 24/7 for your guidance!

You need not to worry for underlying cause because medicines may cause decreased immunity and increased susceptibility to infections(specially fungal infections). If there is no other significant symptom then you can relax from that point of view.

Diabetes may cause micro-vascular damage. Although damage may occur at anytime BUT severity depends upon the blood sugar control. If individual has good control then damage progresses very slowly. In other cases damage becomes progressively rapid.

Diabetes as a whole effects body's immunity. Patient suffering from diabetes needs EXTRA care regarding his/her health. We advise them to take very good care regarding their health. Same i would recommend you. Diabetes effects immunity. At the same time some drugs may potentiate the weakness of immunity, as a result there are increased chances of infection. Kidney functions can only be accessed and commented upon by a nephrologist only as he is specialized in this. There is quite a possibility that long standing fungal infection has caused the symptoms.

As your symptoms are improving so i would suggest you to keep a good eye on your health status. If there is appearance of some other symptom then you can get back to me or to your primary care physician for further workup.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
